Uke Club Meeting #3 Minutes, March 23, 2013

All About Uke!
with L&M Guelph Lesson Coordinator Kim Logue,
as part of "L&M University" sessions taking place nation-wide.
Sat Mar 23rd, 1-2pm
With both quality and affordable instruments available for players of all skill levels, the uke is as popular today as it has ever been. This clinic will provide a tour of the ukulele inventory, with discussion about the variables that impact how the instruments sound, feel and play. Stop by to experience first hand how different wood, body dimension and design effect the sound of each uke. This interactive session will be followed by our regular uke song circle!

Naw Ruz Choir
The choir has been asked to sing for the Naw Ruz celebration that will be taking place on Wednesday, March 20th at 8:15pm at Evergreen Centre in one of the banquet halls I think. We have had two Saturday morning practices, 8-10am.
There is someone playing piano, djembay, banjo and guitar. And about 10 singers? Wearing blues and greens...
#1) Tuna Lao:
tuna leo furaha (we are happy today)
imani ni nzuri (faith is good/wonderful/glorious)
#2) Lost In My Mind, The Head And The Heart
I am so looking forward to it!

Choir Gig, June 15
Yes, I have rearranged my work schedule and paid my dues, so as to join the Guelph Community Singers. Maybe my voice will come back, or even get better! And, I am bound to get at least started reading music, right?
Maybe my buddy will practice with me between Wednesdays? Picking things out on the piano?
I am already having fun.
Into the Woods, Classical Broadway
Tshotsholazo, Traditional South African Freedom Song
Tears in Heaven
Down To The River To Pray (yes, our sheet music says Down To The River not Down In The River)
All The Little Rivers
and 4 others I haven't heard (or read) yet ha.
